A bill to do away with the Council on Affordable Housing passed through the Assembly, but it doesn’t have the support of Gov. Chris Christie. A spokesman for Christie said he supports a version of the legislation that was put together in the Senate. The bill includes a 1.5 percent fee for residential developments. Towns where less than 20 percent of the children are on free or reduced lunches would need 1/10 of the housing to be of the affordable nature. In towns where 50 percent or more are eligible for free or reduced lunches, those towns will be exempt.
