A bill to encourage people to call in drug overdoses to 9-1-1 was vetoed. Gov. Chris Christie turned away the bill that would have granted immunity to a person who called in a drug overdose situation. Lawmakers hoped that this legislation would make people feel more comfortable to call in life saving situations, since drug overdoses usually take place when multiple people are doing drugs. Christie said the measure doesn’t tackle the issue of dropping drug overdose cases, only to have more of them reported.
