A bill designed to prevent retail merchants from adding credit card surcharges to purchases has been approved by committee. The bill is sponsored by New Jersey Assembly Democrats, and would eliminate the surcharge for customers who pay with their credit cards. Use of debit cards does not incur the surcharge.
