A bill clearing civil statute of limitations on sexual abuse was held up in the State Senate on Monday. A small group of Democrats were absent on Monday and the leadership did not believe they would have enough votes to push it through, so they decided to hold off on a vote until next month. Currently, a victim can sue two years after a victim realizes the incident has hampered their life in some way. This legislation would remove all statue of limitations in a civil case against the person and against an organization that knew of the abuse, whether religious or professional.
