Two longtime members of the Cape May County republican party are bowing out of county politics. Freeholder Director Dan Beyel and Freeholder Ralph Sheets both announced during the reorganization meeting of the freeholder board that neither will seek re-election in the Fall, 2011 election. Both Beyel and Sheets’ term will expire at the end of the year. Beyel is currently the director of administration, revenue and finance, and public works. He was first elected freeholder in 1987. Sheets was elected as freeholder in 1990, and is a former mayor of Wildwood.
The board decided to keep Beyel on as freeholder director but named current Freeholder Len Desiderio as vice director.
