The Ocean City Council meets Thursday evening and is expected to conduct a public hearing on a big increase in the cost of a seasonal beach tag. Ocean City has generated attention during the winter for a proposal that would increase the cost of a seasonal beach tag by five dollars. If the new fee structure is approved, the cost of a seasonal tag in Ocean City will climb to $25 in 2011. By state law, any revenues generated by a community through beach tags must be spent on beach-related expenses and cannot be placed into the general fund.
