The Borough of Avalon has unveiled the art work for the 2012 beach tags that will be sold in the Borough. The announcement was made during an assembly at the Avalon Elementary School on Monday, December 12th.
Avalon Public Information Officer Scott Wahl announced that Avalon resident Kaitlyn Bailey was the winner of the 14th Annual Avalon Beach Tag Design Contest. Each year students at the Avalon Elementary School create their own designs for the beach tags, and one entry is selected to adorn the beach tag for the following year. Kaitlyn’s design includes a fish, ocean water and “Avalon 2012”.
“We are very proud of Kaitlyn for coming up with the design that will be on every beach tag in Avalon during the summer of 2012”, said Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi. “This is a fun and creative contest that dates back 14 years and I personally thank Kaitlyn and all of the students who participated”.
Wahl presented Kaitlyn with the very first beach tag of 2012, numbered “000001”. She also received five commemorative buttons that included her design, and a plaque signed by Mayor Pagliughi congratulating her on winning the contest.
