AVALON HOSTS 100TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT

It was a major celebration in Avalon over the weekend.  The Borough celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Avalon Volunteer Fire Department with a ceremony and parade.  Avalon lost one firefighter in the line of duty in 1956; the biggest response in the departments history actually was not a fire–it was the recovery of Avalon following the ’62 nor’easter.
