Avalon Mayor Martin L. Pagliughi honored Avalon resident Cara Heenan with coming up with the winning design for the 2011 beach tags that will be sold in Avalon. Miss Heenan is a seventh grade student at the Avalon Elementary School. Her artwork was picked from 54 submissions to be the official artwork for the 2011 beach tags.
“I’m very proud of Cara’s design for the 2011 beach tags”, Mayor Pagliughi said. “This is a fun way to have our local students involved in community projects, and I congratulate Cara and her parents, Sue and Brian Heenan, on this accomplishment”.
This is the 13th consecutive year that the Borough and the school have sponsored the Avalon Beach Tag Art Contest. Mayor Pagliughi attended a special awards ceremony at the school on Wednesday, December 22nd and presented Cara with a commemorative plaque and the very first beach tag (number 000001) of the 2011 season.
