Avalon held a big public meeting on Saturday to discuss the benefits of flood insurance and how to read elevation certificates for individual homes. Avalon is one of only 13 communities out of 22,000 in the entire nation to earn a Class 3 rating from FEMA which passes on 35 percent savings in flood insurance to property owners.
