Avalon municipal engineer Tom Thornton from Mott MacDonald was recognized this month for his efforts in behalf of rebuilding the Borough’s 8th Street Jetty. The jetty was damaged by Winter Storm Jonas, and Avalon received a multi million grant from FEMA to repair it. Thornton was honored by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers.
