AVALON BACKPASSING PROJECT FINISHES, 55,000 CUBIC YARDS OF SAND MOVED

A major sand back passing project on the Avalon beachfront has been successfully completed.  Avalon engineer Tom Thornton reported at the Wednesday afternoon Council meeting that 55,000 cubic yards of sand was successfully back passed to the eroded north end beaches.  The Borough also saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by doing the project in-house instead of hiring a contractor.
