AVALON AND SEA ISLE CITY REJOICE, TOWNSEND’S INLET BRIDGE IS OPEN

The main bridge between Sea Isle City and Avalon is open. Cape May County officials said the bridge opened on Friday by 6:50 p.m. The project was riddled with delays as it was supposed to be open by Memorial Day weekend. The bridge is now in use and will provide better flow of traffic among the barrier islands. The work is also allowing the weight limit on the bridge to increase, which will allow NJ Transit to resume some bus service it had previously suspended.
