Results of an autopsy of the Cold Spring man who was shot and killed during an alleged home invasion on Sunday was released on Monday by the state Medical Examiner’s Office. According to the report, 21 year-old James Weaver, Jr. died from a single gunshot wound to the head. A final report will be released after toxicology testing is completed. Police reported that Weaver was being driven home by a friend around 2:25 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, when he became enraged and broke two rear windows in the vehicle. The press release stated that the driver pulled over in the area of Route 109 in Cold Spring and asked Weaver to exit. About an hour later, police said they received a call from a resident on the 700 block of Route 109, reporting a break-in. Her husband then shot Weaver after he allegedly smashed a glass door at the house attempting to enter. The names of the homeowners were not released and the shooting is under investigation.
