The man shot by police Monday night in Ventnor Heights has been identified by authorities as 49 year-old John H. Fetter, who lived at the 700 block of North Burghley Avenue with his parents. Fetter allegedly threatened his father with a shotgun earlier in the day on Monday, which escalated to an altercation between the two men and an argument over the gun. Members of the Atlantic County Emergency Response Team fatally shot Fetter, who they say was armed with a .22-caliber handgun. Fetter allegedly pointed the gun at members of the SWAT team while standing on his front porch. The N.J. Attorney General’s Office’s Shooting Response Team is continuing the investigation.
