Atlantic County and Trenton are mourning the passing of long time State Senator Jim Whelan who died Tuesday at the age of 68. Senator Whelan also served Atlantic City as its mayor from 1990 until 2001. He underwent surgery in July to remove cancer cells from his kidney and experienced complications from blood thinners.
