Atlantic City Police came to the rescue of families who were trying to get off the beach safety Wednesday afternoon during a derecho that brought very strong wind gusts to the resort. One officer was struck on the back by a falling lamp post while trying to get a child off the beach safely. There were no injuries.
Below is a social media post that appears on the Department’s website, showing the wind storm and the quick action by police.
Thank yewwww Atlantic city Police for helping us out of a sand storm and Officer Parks for saving this family from a crashing street light. It as intense for 10 minutes of crazy winds I’m still eating sand. #atlanticcity #acpd #doac #newjersey #beach #rain #sandstorm #adventure #summer2020 #summervibes #sendit #yewww
