Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford responded to comments made by Governor Christie, when he called the mayor a failure during a speech on October 9th. Langford faxed a reportedly scathing two-page letter to the Governor’s Office on Thursday. The mayor said that if he is to be judged by the number of homicides in the city, then the governor should be judged by the number of murders statewide. Langford said that Christie’s budget policies cut funding to local municipalities, causing massive layoffs of essential police officers. Daniel Douglas, director of the Center for Public Policy at Stockton College says the two public officials should stop their bickering and work toward the successful operation of Atlantic City.
