A federal grant will bring $1.5 million to Atlantic City for repairs from Hurricane Sandy. The money will be used to replace the boardwalk and ancillary facilities at the Maine Avenue Promenade. The work involved includes but is not limited to the replacing of concrete piles, pile caps, beams, decking, aluminum handrails, electrical wiring and light poles . Atlantic City has requested and been approved to move this destroyed section of the boardwalk fifty feet inland from over water to behind the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers’ built seawall. Therefore cost effective mitigation is achieved through relocation.
