A group of mayors got before the Assembly budget committee on Wednesday and told them they thought the two percent property tax cap was unfair and undo-able in this day and age. Costs of salaries and other expenses will make it a burden for towns to be able to stay inside of that cap. Representatives from police and fire unions also commented saying that jobs will likely be lost as a result of this cap if it goes through. Gov. Chris Christie and key leadership in the Senate have agreed to the cap. The Assembly is the last piece to pushing the legislation through.
