The ARC tunnel project may be dead, but the footprint is still alive. The Star-Ledger reports that Amtrak wants to build a tunnel connecting New Jersey and New York, using much of the same footprint that was going to be used for the ARC Tunnel project. The only difference is Amtrak officials want this tunnel to connect to New York’s Penn Station. The previous tunnel was planned to not connect with other trains, but would be near Penn Station. A press conference to unveil the plan will take place today.
