The first Triple Crown winner in nearly forty years took his first trot around the track at Monmouth Park at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning. American Pharoah arrived at the track on Wednesday with a police escort, after arriving by jet at the Atlantic City International Airport. The colt was taken for a slow one-mile jog around the track by jockey Jorge Alvarez, with a more vigorous gallop planned for Friday morning. The 12th Triple Crown winner will race on Sunday in the $1.75 million Haskell Invitational and is certain to be the overwhelming favorite.
