A new piece of legislation has been proposed by Assemblyman Nelson Albano to protect teachers in renegotiations. Albano told Coastal Broadcasting that some unions were willing to help out local towns, but worried about school districts that were going back on their word. In some instances, unions would provide concessions to save jobs, only to have layoffs take place in six months or a year. The measure would provide protections to unions that agreements must be kept if put into place.
