The Wildwoods are not the only beach communities who must deal with after-hours swimmers in distress. People visiting many shore towns continue to enter the water after lifeguards are gone for the day. A member of the Ocean City Beach Patrol claims that the Ninth Street beach has crowds like noon on the Fourth of July on any given night after 7 pm. Last Sunday 11 swimmers had to be rescued after hours at 11th Street, when they tried to swim ashore from a sand bar and got swept into a jetty.
