An accident in Hamilton Township took place because of drunk driving, according to Hamilton Township police. Authorities say Juan Matta, age 46 of Mays Landing disregarded a red light and crashed into another vehicle. The three victims in the other vehicle were treated at area hospitals for minor to moderate injuries. Matta suffered minor lacerations to his arm and leg and refused treatment. He was charged with driving under the influence, Refusal to Submit to a Breathalyzer; Failure to Stop at Red Light; Reckless Driving; Careless Driving; Uninsured; and Unregistered. He was also charged with Assault by Auto (4th degree) and lodged in Atlantic County Jail in default of $2500 cash bail.
