Atlantic City firefighters have withdrawn a federal lawsuit regarding potential staffing cuts in their department. The state has backed off a promise to slash 100 firefighting jobs as part of belt-tightening measures in the resort. The lawsuit could be refiled in Atlantic County Superior Court if needed. There are just over 200 firefighters employed by the city.
