The beginning of arguments were heard in the latest school funding case. Gov. Chris Christie’s legal team is saying the state can’t afford to continue to fund schools at the levels required by state law. A number of cuts were made to the current year’s budget and Christie has said the cuts need to span to all areas. Lawyers on the other side say that the state has an obligation to fully fund schools in the state, which would put the state in a $1.7 billion budget hole. It is not clear when a decision will be rendered.
