U.S. Congressman Frank LoBiondo announced on Wednesday that a $625,000 federal grant was awarded to the Wildwood Police Department under the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Program. Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr. said the grant would “allow our police department to do the most important thing for our community: protect it.” The grant money will allow the city to hire new and/or rehire career law enforcement officers. This year’s grant provides 75 percent funding for entry-level salaries and benefits for three years to fill vacancies.
