A Philadelphia TV station interviewed Maggie Drozdowski, the 15 year old surfer who was bitten by a shark Sunday in the waters just off Stone Harbor. Talking about the experience to WPVI-TV 6, she says the shark briefly pulled her under the surface while it latched onto her foot. She initally thought it may have been a crab, but realized it was a bigger creature when it pulled her underwater. Drozdowski estimated the shark held grip for about five seconds before releasing. She paddled to the 109th Street beach and receieved medical attention around 3 pm. City officials had no plans to restrict access following the incident, pointing out shark interactions with humans are rare, but reminded bathers to remain vigilant while in the water.
