The Philadelphia Phillies have hired Gabs Kapler as their new manager, replacing Pete Mackanin. Kapler has worked for the Dodgers as the director of player development and he played 12 seasons in the major leagues. Kapler has no previous ties with the Phillies.
A father and son officiating crew walked off the field before the start of a high school football game Friday night because some players kneeled during the National Anthem. Ernie and Anthony Lunardelli told officials from both Colts Neck and Monroe high schools that they would leave if any players knelt before the game.
Lower Cape May Regional High School dedicated its new field house on Saturday. The practice facility cost nearly $3 million and and was built on the site of former tennis courts. The project was part of a larger bond project that includes new roofs for some school buildings, and other amenities.
