Ocean City and Middle Township dropped key football games during Friday night action. Ocean City was dropped by Mainland, 21-6, while Pleasantville took care of Middle Township, 28-7. Lower Cape May was upended by Gloucester, 20-14.
Ocean City won the South Jersey Group III field hockey championship Thursday with a 1-0 win over Cherry Hill West. Middle Township dropped its South Jersey title game, to Woodstown, 2-1. Lower Cape May will battle Gateway Friday at 2pm in its South Jersey field hockey championship game.
The Wildwood Catholic boys soccer team saw its playoff game moved Wednesday, and the game resulted in a loss. Wildwood Catholic was knocked out by Immaculata, 1-0 in a South Jersey Non Public Group B playoff game. The game was moved from Stone Harbor to St. Augustine due to poor field conditions.
The individual teams that comprise the Arena Football League have suspended their operations putting the future of the entire league in doubt. The League includes both the Atlantic City Blackjacks and the Philadelphia Soul. New investors are being sought to keep the League afloat.

Former New York Yankees manager is the new manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. Various reports say the Phillies are poised to make the announcement that Girardi will become the next manager of the team, replacing Gabe Kapler who was fired earlier this month.
Lower Cape May quarterback Connor Eckel threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth score as the Caper Tigers defeated Wildwood 42-0 in Lower’s homecoming game on Saturday.
