Matt Szczur is now a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Lower Cape May Regional High School graduate signed the deal on Friday, and he has a chance to make the major league roster. He has big league experience with the Cubs and Padres.

The Wildwood Catholic boys basketball team is ranked third in the State of New Jersey, according to NJ.com rankings released today. The Crusaders are below only Roselle Catholic and The Patrick School in the rankings. Camden is the only other team from South Jersey ranked in the top ten.
Former Wildwood High School football star Wes Hills scored two touchdowns for the Detroit Lions in their 38-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday. Wildwood High School graduate Wes Hills is now on the Detroit Lions active roster. The Lions announced over the weekend that Hills has been bumped up from the practice squad. Hills had a brief stint with the Cardinals before being picked up by the Lions.
The Philadelphia Phillies have landed another big name. The Phillies have reportedly agreed to a one year, $14 million deal with former Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius. The signing likely means Jean Segura will move to second or third base.
The Philadelphia Phillies starting rotation got a lot better late Wednesday. The Phillies announced they have signed former New York Mets pitcher Zach Wheeler to a five year contract worth $118 million. Wheeler won 11 games with the Mets last year, and struck out 195 batters.
