Onto the South Jersey Group II semifinals for the Middle Township Lady Panthers. Middle Township won its second straight tournament game Thursday night by beating Overbrook, 55-26. Middle Township will play at second seeded Sterling Saturday at 3:00pm. And Holy Spirit was knocked out of the tournament by Gill St. Bernards, 59-48.
The high school basketball season ended for the Ocean City boys basketball team on Thursday night. Ocean City fell to Winslow Township, 67-59 in the South Jersey Group III quarterfinals. A very impressive win for the Middle Township Lady Panthers to begin the South Jersey Group II playoffs. In a game broadcast live on WCZT, Middle blew out Audubon, 45-13. Bridget Ruskey scored ten points for the Panthers. Middle Township will play in the next round Wednesday at 5pm against either Barnegat or Overbrook.
Brian Hindle is the new head football coach at Lower Cape May Regional High School. The Gazette Leader reports this morning that Hindle was hired away from the Middle Township football program to take over at Lower, for former coach Bill Miller. Hindle is 27 years old and teaches at Lower Township Elementary School.

A huge victory for the Middle Township Lady Panthers basketball team Saturday. Middle Township defeated Ocean City, 36-34 in overtime to win the Cape Atlantic League championship. Middle Township’s run in the Cape Atlantic League boys basketball tournament came to an end Thursday night. St. Augustine knocked off Middle Township, 60-41. The Hermits outscored the Panthers by a 32-9 margin in the second half to win the game. Tim Toney scored 19 points in a losing cause.
No one really saw this coming. The Philadelphia Eagles have released a leader of their defense, linebacker DeMeco Ryans. Ryans was cut but he Eagles on Wednesday. This season, he was scheduled to earn $3.5 million dollars. Ryans is 31 years old and has experienced two seasons with various injuries.
