It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles will open their season on the road in Atlanta. There are many schedule leaks being reported today in advance of the official release of the NFL schedule by the league tonight at 8 o’clock. Many sources say the first game of the season will be Dallas at Tampa Bay.
Former Philadelphia Eagles star Leroy Keyes has passed away at the age of 74. Keyes lived in Indiana, and he played several positions for the Eagles, including running back, in the 1970’s. Keyes finished second in the Heisman Trophy balloting to O.J. Simpson.
A quarterback from South Jersey who took the Baltimore Ravens to an NFL championship is now a Philadelphia Eagle. The Eagles have signed Joe Flacco to a one year contract. Flacco grew up in South Jersey, went to the University of Delaware, and has a home in Avalon.
The Philadelphia Eagles have released veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey and defensive tackle Malik Jackson. Both players were released in cost cutting moves. Jeffrey’s recent season with the Eagles was plagued by injuries.
