A 30 year-old man who unsuccessfully tried to rob an Ocean First Bank branch was arrested on Wednesday by Wildwood Police. After four million riders, the Flitzer rides off into the sunset on September 23rd. The 30-year old roller coaster on Morey’s Pier will be the subject of a final farewell party on Sunday, September 23rd according to the Pier’s social media page. The Flitzer roller coaster was first installed in 1983.
The National Bicycle Dealers Association has named a local business as one of the best bicycle retailers in the entire country. Zippy’s Bikes in Wildwood was one of only three stores in the State of New Jersey to receive this designation. The Association has been promoting the interests of cycling since 1946.
Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Friday Night Fireworks scheduled for the Wildwoods beach tonight, Friday, August 31st, have been postponed. The fireworks will instead be displayed on Sunday at 10:00 PM from the regular location at Pine Avenue.

Wildwood Police say a 33 year old Clayton man was busted over the weekend for brandishing a gun during a drug transaction with a parking lot attendant. Police say they arrested Carl Smith Friday night on Schellenger Avenue. An Airsoft/Pellet handgun was recovered; no shots were fired. Smith was taken to the County Jail.
Three firefighters in Wildwood have been certified by Rutgers University after successfully completing course work for Certified Public Manager training. Ernie Troiano III, James Grauel, and Captain Daniel Dunn completed the ten-month training. All three graduated on Friday.
