The summer beach season is quickly winding down, and some local beach patrols are reporting fewer guarded beaches as guards return home for school. The Wildwood Beach Patrol announced today that a dozen beaches will be guarded the week after Labor Day weekend; no beaches will be guarded after September 8th.
Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano is not happy that Governor Murphy stripped out funding that would have financed long-term repairs to the Wildwood boardwalk. The Runaway Tram is open for business. The long-awaited opening of the new roller coaster on Morey’s Surfside Pier at 25th Avenue and the boardwalk has occurred. The new roller coaster cost $4 million, has 922 feet of track, and reaches a height of 40 feet in the air.
A fire significantly damaged the former Seasons and Neil’s restaurants, located in the 200 block of Schellenger Avenue Wednesday night in Wildwood. Fire crews responded to the scene during the early morning hours on Thursday. Smoke was seen pouring from the second floor of the structure, which has been vacant.

The annual baby parade is being postponed by one day due to a threat of significant rainfall later today. Registration will be held tomorrow at 4:30pm, with the actual parade stepping off at 6pm.
