The Wildwood City Commission meets today and will vote on a $4.5 million project to make repairs to the city’s boardwalk. A bond ordinance is before the Commission today. Wildwood may also take action on its Pacific Avenue Redevelopment Plan. The meeting begins at 5:00pm.
Wildwood Police issued an advisory Friday night about a sinkhole that formed on a portion of Ocean Avenue. The road is closed in both directions in the 4800 block due to the sinkhole. Police suggesting using Atlantic Avenue as an alternate route.
Governor Phil Murphy has pledged $4 million to fix the famous Wildwood boardwalk. Murphy came to the city over the holiday weekend and walked the boardwalk with Mayor Pete Byron. Wildwood has advanced a reduced fee structure so building development can be ramped up in Wildwood. The City Commission announced that the cost of application and escrow fees to the Planning and Zoning boards have been reduced. There will also be cuts in the costs for required subdivision, site plan, and variance applications.
The threat of severe storms Thursday night has postponed a concert at the Byrne Plaza in Wildwood. Wildwood has received a $400,000 Small Cities grant from the State of New Jersey. According to a release, the city will use the money to improve non-compliant curb ramps along sections of Pacific Avenue. The city is contributing $60,000 of its own money to get this project completed.
