The search for a missing swimmer off the beaches of Wildwood is now a recovery operation. Authorities did not find the swimmer last evening who went missing off the beach at Andrews Avenue. The man was a group of four; one made it in on his own, while two others were rescued by personnel.

Wildwood firefighters responded to a house fire on West Maple Avenue Saturday night. Fire crews say there were no injuries in the fire which was found in a second floor bathroom ceiling that extended into the attic. Smoke and water damage rendered the house uninhabitable. Wildwood Police have announced the passing of former sergeant Dominic Romeo. Romeo passed away Sunday morning. He served the department until 1992 and served the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7. Wildwood Police announced that all of Ocean Drive between Schellenger Avenue to Cresse Avenue will be closed Monday, Tuesday, and a portion of Wednesday of next week. Milling and paving of the street will be done in advance of Memorial Day weekend. The street will be re-striped.
Wildwood Police have charged 18 year old Daniel Corkery of Wildwood on charges that he caused the drug induced death of another individual. Police responded on May 2nd to a call of a possible narcotics overdose; the victim died as a result of taking the drug. Corkery was lodged in the Cape May County Jail.
