Two Vineland men have been arrested and charged with stabbing another man on Cherry Street on Wednesday. Police say they arrested 21 year old Francis M. Dilone-Venutra and 22 year old Felipe Bautista, both of Vineland. The victim was flown to Cooper Hospital in Camden, and helped police identify his attackers.
Vineland Police say a student thought a smoke bomb would be a good way to end the year at Vineland High School South on Thursday. Someone tossed the smoke bomb inside the school during the lunch hour on Thursday. There was no fire inside the building, and no reported injuries.
Vineland Police say a 37 year old woman is charged with DUI after she allegedly swapped seats with a driver after a hit and run accident. Jennifer L. Beattie was cited for reckless driving and for driving on a revoked license. The Daily Journal reports that Beattie swapped seats right after the accident.
A 37 year old Vineland man was shot to death during a backyard gathering in Bridgeton on Tuesday. Authorities identified the victim as Terrance L. Martin; a second man from Mays Landing was wounded in the shooting. Police say an intruder came to the gathering and opened fire; he has not yet been captured.
So long Golden Corral, hello Checkers. The Daily Journal reports that a former Golden Corral restaurant that closed earlier this year will be knocked down and a new Checkers Drive In restaurant will be erected in its place. It’s all part of an expansion of the national chain in New Jersey.
A 27 year old Vineland man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident in Atlantic City Friday afternoon. Authorities say Leon Green is accused of shooting the man near the Manor Hotel on Pacific Avenue. Green has been charged with attempted murder and other offenses; drugs were found in his possession.
38 year old Earl Barley Jr. of Vineland was arrested in Franklin Township on Memorial Day after police found drugs and a loaded gun inside his car. Police say the gun was loaded with hallow point bullets. Barley was hauled off to the Atlantic County Jail.
Vineland Police have charged a 48 year old man with drunk driving after he was found asleep at the wheel of his parked car Saturday night. Police say Carlos Velez of North Delsea Drive was also charged with reckless driving and other offenses; Velez refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.
A restaurant chain known for a low price, low quality buffet has closed its doors in Vineland. Golden Corral closed its location on South Delsea Drive after seven years in business. The restaurant opened back in October, 2011. No word on why it’s now out of business.
A doctor in Vineland has had his license suspended in New Jersey for allegedly providing grossly insufficient medical treatment. The Daily Journal reports that Dr. Gary Matusow must have his work monitored for a year before his license is renewed. Matusow denies all allegations of wrong doing.
