A tax increase is coming to Upper Township. The Township Committee met Monday night and introduced a new municipal budget that includes a 1.1 cent increase in the local purpose tax rate. The budget totals just over $13 million; a final vote on the budget will be held in about a month.
The Upper Township Committee meets Monday night and is expected to formally introduce the 2018 municipal budget. Various official appointments, including that of a municipal engineer, are also expected to be made at the meeting tonight.
A two-vehicle accident on Route 9 in Upper Township Thursday afternoon resulted in one serious injury. State Police say 79 year old Dorothea Whildin was airlifted away from the accident scene with serious injuries. The accident closed down a section of the highway for a few hours.

A seven year old boy was struck by a motor vehicle late Tuesday afternoon in Upper Township during Trick or Treat hours. NJ.com reports that the boy was with his mother when he was struck by a GMC vehicle. The boy suffered non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Cooper Hospital in Camden.
