A 34 year old Pleasantville man has been arrested and charged with stealing lamb from a Shoprite supermarket in Upper Township. State Police say Geoffrey Tomlinson has been charged with stealing the meat back in August. Tomlinson has been charged with shoplifting.
The Upper Township branch of the County’s library system will be closed on Friday due to plumbing maintenance. The library is scheduled to open again on Saturday morning; all other branches of the County library system will be open Friday.
County officials announced led that the Roosevelt Boulevard Bridge between Ocean City and Marmora will be closed Monday night through early Tuesday morning. A concrete construction barrier curb and temporary traffic signal system will be installed for the second phase of a bridge deck project.
New Jersey State Police arrested a 44 year old man from Hackensack for being in possession of $2,500 worth of heroin during a motor vehicle stop on the Garden State Parkway in Upper Township. The stop was made at milepost 26.3 for a traffic violation. Luis Delgado-Bentacourt was also charged with a DWI.
A third Dollar General store is coming to Upper Township. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the Township’s planning board approved a site plan for the store to be located on Route 50. The meeting ran long with citizens objecting to the construction of the store, citing traffic and property value concerns.
It’s a done deal, a natural gas pipeline will run through the Pinelands of South Jersey. The Pinelands Commission gave the Southern Reliability Link gas line the final approvals it needed during a meeting on Thursday. The gas line will run 28 miles long.
A 48 year old man from Mays Landing lost his life in a motorcycle accident along Route 50 in Upper Township on Friday night. Police say Stephen Starke’s bike ran off a road and struck a sign, and a tree during the accident.
Cape May County will continue a construction project in Stagecoach Road in Upper Township on Wednesday. County officials announced that traffic will be detoured at Church Road and then join Stagecoach Again at Butter Road. This should be the final day of the two day project.
An Upper Township man was not injured when his truck caught fire on the Garden State Parkway in Atlantic County Thursday. 27 year old James Jackson had his truck burn in a ball of fire on the Parkway Thursday evening. Jackson was able to escape his truck without any injury. ##
There will be no farmers markets in Upper Township this year. The Upper Township Gazette reports that the markets will not be held due to a lack of volunteers in the community to assist with these and similar events. Township Committeeman Hobie Young says the Township is struggling to find volunteers to run these events.…
