Some overnight, weekday closures of the 96th Street Bridge in Stone Harbor have been extended for a week. County Engineer Dale Foster announced that the closures are now needed through June 16th, but will not be occurring over the weekend. ##
There will be some major delays along Stone Harbor Boulevard on Tuesday. County Engineer Dale Foster announced that work on the Scotch Bonnet Bridge which is midway between Cape May Court House and Stone Harbor will result in one lane of traffic being shut down through the day, and possibly into the evening hours. ##
The Stone Harbor portion of the spring beach fill project is complete. Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company completed the placement of sand on Stone Harbor’s beach on Monday. Avalon was also part of the project and received nearly 1 million cubic yards of new sand. ##
Stone Harbor Police arrested 32 year old Wesley Minnich of Pennsylvania who was a fugitive from justice. Police responded to a disturbance call on May 24th and Minnich was arrested; during his arrest, he was combative with police and and spit on an officer. ##
A 52 year old woman from Cape May Court House was arrested and charged with burglary and theft following an incident in Stone Harbor Thursday night. Police allege Beth Sondles broke into a home and allegedly removed multiple bottles of alcohol from the residence. ##
Stone Harbor Mayor Judy Davies Dunhour will parasail onto the beaches in her community on Saturday, instead of Friday. Rough sea conditions have postponed the event by a day; Davies Dunhour will welcome visitors to the beaches at the 95th Street beach at Noon Saturday. ##
What a way to open the tourism season in Stone Harbor. On Friday, Mayor Judy Davies-Dunhour will parasail in to the Borough to open its beaches for the summer tourism season. The event will occur at the 95th Street beach at 9:30am. ##
The longtime owner of Springer’s Ice Cream in Stone Harbor was killed in a motor vehicle accident in Pennsylvania. NJ.com reports that 82 year old Barbara Humphreys lost her life in the driveway of her daughter’s home in Wayne, PA. Her husband Neil was hospitalized as a result of the accident. ##
The former Henny’s Restaurant is being ripped down in Stone Harbor this week. Traffic detours are in place so demolition crews can knock the restaurant; a new hotel complex and spa connected to The Reeds will be built in its place. ##
Stone Harbor’s property revaluation project is expected to continue through November. Borough officials announced that fieldwork has been conducted on approximately 2,400 properties to date. ##
