Sea Isle City’s council approved a new municipal budget this week. The city has plans in late April to make a virtual public presentation on a future community center project that will be constructed on Park Road. More information will be available next month.
The municipal tax rate will go up this year in Sea Isle City. Mayor Len Desiderio announced that the local rate will climb by about a quarter of a penny. Desiderio says for the typical property owner in the city, the increase equates to about a nickel per day.

The popularity of pickleball continues at the shore. Sea Isle City Mayor Len Desiderio announced today that Council has approved the addition of pickleball courts on the crushed shell lot adjacent to the city’s marina. Funding for the courts is included in a new capital ordinance.
Bennett Enterprises, Inc. of Sea Isle City has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Daily Journal reports that the filing is seeking protection for unsecured debts in excess of $1 million. The company owned and operated LaCosta Lounge and Deck Bar on Landis Avenue. It closed for good in September.
A deceased whale was spotted off Sea Isle City and Avalon Thursday. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center has been contacted about the whale which has likely been dead for several days. The Coast Guard and the Center will at some point examine the whale when it is safe to do so.
A 90 year old man from Sea Isle City has died as a result of coronavirus. County health officials released their new figures Monday which show nine additional cases of the virus. Two new cases are in both Upper and Middle townships.
Former Sea Isle City Commissioner Steve Libro has passed away at the age of 80. Libro served four years on the City Commission, and also assisted Sea Isle City on its Tourism Commission and Chamber of Commerce. Libro founded the Sea Isle City Recreation Department.
A 73 year old Sea Isle City man has died from coronavirus. County officials released new Covid-19 figures on Saturday and report two new positive cases. Seven of the 16 communities in Cape May County have one, or zero, cases of the virus in residents.
Sea Isle City Mayor Len Desiderio says his town will be reconstructing several roads in the city this fall. He announced that a half dozen projects will be getting underway now that summer is over. Desiderio says there are plans to add more pump stations in the city.
