Palm trees in Sea Isle City? It’s happening this year along the JFK Boulevard corridor. Mayor Len Desiderio announced that after consultation with landscaping professionals, the city will try to place palm trees along the corridor. Desiderio admits that it’s only a seasonal planting, and something else will be tried when winter comes.

The Sea Isle City Commission meets Tuesday morning and is expected to approve sweeping ordinances that will prohibit the use and consumption of cannibas products on public property. The Commission will also prohibit delivery trucks from coming into town to drop off pot to paying customers. Today’s meeting starts at 10:00am.
Municipal elections are being held in two communities on Tuesday. Both Avalon and Sea Isle City will be holding municipal elections from 6:00am until 8:00pm. The polling location in Avalon has been moved to the elementary school gym because the traditional polling location is currently used as a Covid-19 vaccination clinic by the County.
A portion of Central Avenue in Sea Isle City is closed to traffic for utility work. The Sea Isle City Police Department announced that the road is closed from 39th Street to John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The closure may extend through Thursday.
Sea Isle City has unveiled its official presentation for a new community center. Mayor Len Desiderio says the center will be located at the site of the former school on Park Road. There is a 22-minute video on the city’s website that includes details about the proposed center.

Sea Isle City will honor the men and women who served in the Vietnam War on Monday. The City is asking people to observe a moment of silence at 11:00am. The city will also sound the fire sirens at that time as a tribute. Mayor Len Desiderio says these veterans have been overlooked.
