The Townsend’s Inlet Bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic for Memorial Day weekend. County Engineer Dale Foster reports that the contractor is working 12 hour shifts on weekdays but it’s not enough to get the bridge open for the weekend. The bridge has been closed since April 3rd. ##
Sea Isle City will be holding its annual Memorial Day ceremony on May 29th. Mayor Len Desiderio announced that the ceremony will be held at Veterans Park and include VFW Post #1963 and Boy Scout Troop #76. ##
Sea Isle City may adjust the hours for outdoor entertainment at bars and restaurants. City Council will hold a meeting next Saturday and could amend the ordinance that currently restricts the entertainment from extending past 9:00pm weekdays, and past 10:00pm on weekends. ##
Two local communities will be holding elections on Tuesday. Avalon has a contested election for three seats on Borough Council, while Sea Isle City’s election is uncontested. Polls will be open from 6am until 8pm. ##

Cape May County remains hopeful that necessary repairs to the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge will be completed before Memorial Day weekend. County Engineer Dale Foster says the County has engaged South State construction to conduct the repairs on the bridge, which has been closed for a few weeks following an underwater inspection. ##
