Sea Isle City held a reorganization meeting of City Council over the holiday weekend. Council members J.B. Feeley, Jack Gibson, and Mary Tighe all received their respective oaths of office after securing Council seats in the May election. ##
The annual Sea Isle City Food Truck Invitational was a huge success over the weekend. Thousands of guests enjoyed various foods from trucks that came as far away as New York State. The festival is one of many large food truck festivals happening in the South Jersey region this summer. ##
The Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City is open again. Traffic started flowing over the bridge Friday after 4pm following a nearly three month shutdown of the span for emergency structural repairs by the County of Cape May. ##
Townsend’s Inlet Bridge will re-open Friday afternoon. According to a County notice posted on the Borough of Avalon’s website, the bridge will re-open to vehicular traffic sometime Friday afternoon. The bridge has been shut down for many weeks after undermining of the bridge was discovered by the County during a scheduled underwater inspection. ##
Sea Isle City will host its annual food truck festival this weekend. Nearly 20 food trucks will be involved in the festival that begins Friday and ends Sunday. The event will include some crafters and live music as well. ##
A proposal that would have allowed for later outdoor music in Sea Isle City did not get a single vote of support from City Council during this week’s meeting. This comes on the heels of an earlier vote this spring to shoot down a proposal for longer sidewalk dining hours in the resort. ##
A new bill has been approved by the State Assembly that would require the owners of Jitney buses to register in each town for which they operate. Some towns including Avalon require Jitney bus drivers to pass background checks and register with the Borough, while some other municipalities where Jitneys operate do not. ##
The Sea Isle City Council will meet Tuesday morning and is expected to take action on an ordinance that will adjust the hours when bars and clubs can have music, dancing and entertainment. A plan that would extend the hours for outdoor dining in Sea Isle City is dead, for now. Council could not get enough votes to introduce an ordinance that would have extended outdoor dining by an hour, to midnight. Council may ultimately extend the hours for outdoor music instead. ##
A portion of Landis Avenue in Sea Isle City will be under construction during the month of June. City officials announced that a contract has been awarded to South State Construction to resurface Landis Avenue from 72nd Street to 78th Street. ##
