A three hour standoff between a 14 year old male and police in Pleasantville ended peacefully Monday morning. The teen barricaded himself inside his family’s home on Somerset Avenue and refused to surrender. The teen was taken into custody and interviewed by police. ##

A 41 year old man from Atlantic City was critically injured in a motor vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Pleasantville. Authorities say David Aikens was heading north on Doughty Road when his car crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a pole. Aikens was the only individual inside the vehicle. ##
A grand jury has indicted a South Jersey man on charges that he shot and killed a teenager at a Pleasantville park two years ago. Isaiah J. Newsome of Sicklerville is accused of shooting Steven Davion Garrett three times at Max Manning Park in August, 2015. ##
The Pleasantville Board of Education may decide to dedicate the high school gym to honor the legacy of former boys basketball coach Ken Leary. Leary died in 2016 at the age of 73 after one of the most successful coaching careers in South Jersey history. ##
A man stole nine packs of cigarettes at a Wawa in Pleasantville last week, right in the presence of two uniformed police officers. 32 year old Robert Jones of Egg Harbor Township was arrested after police conducted a brief chase. Jones was arrested and released on a summons. ##
A 59 year old employee of the Pleasantville Housing Authority stole over $800 in cash, and a toilet seat to boot. Cheryl Bradshaw of Atlantic City turned herself in this week. She stole the toilet seat to install in her own home. ##
A man who drove the getaway car following a fatal shooting in Pleasantville last year has been indicted. 32 year old Robert L. Terrell collected a gunman following a fatal shooting last September in the city. Terrell now faces six charges, including murder, conspiracy, and weapons offenses. Bail has been set at $500,000.
Two people were injured during a house fire before sunup Monday in Pleasantville. Authorities say two people inside the home suffered smoke inhalation during the house fire, but they will be ok. The fire broke out in a home in the 1500 block of Sixth Avenue; no word yet on what caused the fire.
Two police officers in Pleasantville suffered injuries while arresting a violent suspect on Friday. One officer suffered a fractured hand while another had leg injuries after they busted Keith Robinson Jr. of Atlantic City during a domestic violence call Friday morning. The incident happened at the Bay Harbor Village on South Main Street.
