One person was killed during a shooting incident in Atlantic City Monday evening. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office confirms that a man was shot and killed on North Michigan Avenue shortly before 6pm. So far, the victim’s name has not been released.

A 38 year old Atlantic City man was killed after he crashed his motorcycle into a parked car Sunday night. City police say Juan Cruz-Ortiz of Atlantic City was thrown from the bike after he struck the car on Massachusetts Avenue. Both the bike and car caught fire.

The business administrator for Ocean City is resigning effective June 1st. James Mallon has informed city leaders that he will step down at the end of the month to accept a position in the private sector. Mallon has worked for the city for 16 years; a search for his replacement begins immediately.
The County will be closing the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City during the overnight hours Tuesday into Wednesday. A construction barrier curb will be removed and the temporary traffic signal will be removed for the summer season. If there are stormy conditions, the closure will take place Wednesday night into Thursday.
A major sand backpassing project in Avalon is near the finish line, weeks ahead of schedule. 53 year old Wayne Harris of Millville lost his life Friday night when he was riding his bicycle. Harris was struck and killed by a motor vehicle near North and Foundry streets when the accident occurred. The crash remains under investigation by local police.
A Powerball lottery ticket worth $50,000 was sold at the Acme supermarket in Somers Point. State lottery officials say the ticket was part of the $257 million lottery drawing Saturday night that resulted in no top prize winners. The jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing swells to $280 million.
After spending nearly two decades on the run, a crime suspect in Atlantic County has been captured and is now in custody.
