The North Wildwood Police Department has announced the passing of retired Corporal Robert Champion. Champion worked for the department for 25 years, up until 2012. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the department when they are available.
New Jersey State Police arrested a 44 year old man from Hackensack for being in possession of $2,500 worth of heroin during a motor vehicle stop on the Garden State Parkway in Upper Township. The stop was made at milepost 26.3 for a traffic violation. Luis Delgado-Bentacourt was also charged with a DWI.
Three juveniles have been charged with burglarizing several storage units at a local condominium. The thefts occurred on September 19th and involved teenagers from the Crest and Rio Grande. All three juveniles were processed and released to their parents.
Lower Cape May football quarterback Brennan Ray is the CoastSportsToday.com Athlete of the Week. Republican Kim Guadagno believes she can still win New Jersey’s gubernatorial race despite trailing democrat Phil Murphy by double digits with six weeks until Election Day. Pollsters believe Guadagno’s link to her boss, Governor Chris Christie, is hurting her popularity through the State. Guadagno trails Murphy in most polls by about 13 percentage points.
Dennis Township may soon be hiring a part time business administrator. The Cape May County Herald reports that the Township Committee approved the position during a 3-2 vote last week. The administrator post would be a part time position.

Woodbine has received a $200,000 state grant for roadwork in the community. Mayor William Pikolycky announced that the funding will finance the second phase of the reconstruction of portions of Heilprin and Sumner avenues. Stormwater facilities will be upgraded as part of the work.
A former professional boxer will be spending 20 years in prison for killing a Woodbine man in Atlantic City more three years ago. 27 year old Omar Curry shot 32 year old Nelson Rivera, which led to Rivera’s death. Curry used to be a pro boxer and found in Atlantic City.
