A contrator will be providing some drainage improvements with the replacement of stormwater pipes on West Perry Street, in West Cape May. County officials announced led that the work will begin on September 25th; traffic will be detoured to Beach Avenue during the project.
A portion of Goshen Road will receive maintenance paving next week in Middle Township. County officials announced that South State of Bridgeton will mill and pave two portions of Goshen Road next Monday and Tuesday in the areas of Bidwell Creek, and west of Steeple Court.
It’s a done deal, a natural gas pipeline will run through the Pinelands of South Jersey. The Pinelands Commission gave the Southern Reliability Link gas line the final approvals it needed during a meeting on Thursday. The gas line will run 28 miles long.
The New Jersey Air National Guard is being deployed to the Virgin Islands to help with the recovery from Hurricane Irma. Citizen airmen from the 108th Wing are being deployed to assist. Earlier, more than 120 citizens who serve the local 253rd Transportation Company left for Florida to help with assistance needed in that state.
Millville Police have arrested and charged a 62 year old woman with stealing nearly $60,000 from a woman’s group that provides funding to the St. Nicholas Ukranian Church in the city. Mourners paid their final respects to New Jersey State Senator James Whelan on Thursday. A memorial service was held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and brought both democrats and republicans together to honor the man who used to serve as mayor of Atlantic City. Whelan died at the age of 68 on August 22nd.
New Jersey’s unemployment rate edged up to 4.5 percent in August, representing a three tenths of a percentage point increase in one month. New statistics show the state got rid of 700 private sector jobs but added 900 public positions.
